How To: Validate SMB

Overview

This document covers how to use ‘validatesmb.exe’ from ConnectSecure.

Instructions

  1. Download the ValidateSMB executable from ConnectSecure

    1. https://toolsdev.myconnectsecure.com/agents/validatesmb/validatesmb.exe

  2. Open PowerShell as Administrator

  3. Navigate to the location of the file downloaded from Step 1 above

  4. Run the appropriate command based on the asset type

  • Workgroup Asset (Non Domain)

.\validatesmb.exe validatesmb <IP> <domain(FQDN)> <user> <password>

  • Domain Asset

.\validatesmb.exe validatesmb <IP> '""' <user> <password>
