How To: Assessment View Scanning


Overview

In this how-to, we will cover how to use the Assessment View module and scanning functions. Assessment View is designed for a one-time assessment scan, typically for a prospect. Only certain modules are available, by design, which are outlined in the details section below.


Instructions

  1. Switch to the Assessment View using the toggle on the main toolbar.

  1. Tap on the Download module to start the installer.

  1. Select the target operating system from which you run the assessment scan, and follow the instructions.

You must run the ‘StartAssessment.bat’ file as administrator:

The Windows Command Prompt will display with various output as the various scan functions are being executed.

  1. Open your web browser and navigate to https://localhost:8088

You will be prompted that your connection is not private, this is ‘normal’ and expected behavior since there is no cert assigned to localhost. Please click to proceed.

  1. Enter the UserName and Password at the sign-in screen to connect to the Assessment View module.

Default Creds: Username is admin / Password is password

  1. The ConnectSecure Sales Toolkit welcome screen should load up and you are ready to begin the assessment. You can switch your UI to dark/light mode and then tap Next to start.

  1. You must add Discovery Settings by tapping the Add button. This is where you will define the network(s) that are going to be targeted during the scan.

  1. Complete the required fields, which include the Name, Address Type/Info, and tap Update to save.

  1. Next, you will provide any of the Credentials you want to use during the scan. If no credentials are provided, the assessment scan will attempt to scan all identified devices unauthenticated, but results will vary depending on the network/devices. Tap on the next button once done.

  1. We are ready to begin the scan now, tap the Scan Assets icon to begin.

The scan window will display the Scan Type, Scan Status, and Description; use the refresh button to update the data and progress status.

Tap on the Scan Type column to see the scan details timeline style.

  1. When the scan is completed, you can use the next button to get to the download section and download your results.

  1. Scan Results are saved to the ‘assessment_download.zip’ folder.

Tap Finish to complete the assessment and return to the login screen.

Upload Results

  1. Back in the main portal, click on the Upload icon where you will upload the ‘assessment_download.zip' file from the previous steps.

  1. The Company Name field here is the name of the company as it will be displayed in the portal with the results file you select. Enter the name, choose your file, and tap Save.

  1. You will be redirected to the newly created company and their results should be displayed.
